Inclusive Soccer Opportunities for Every Player SOCAL Unified Players League
DFC is committed to being inclusive and welcoming to all players. Through the SOCAL Unified Players League, we proudly provide opportunities for children with disabilities who want to play soccer, be part of a team environment, and experience the joy of the game in a supportive setting. This program is designed to help players develop skills, build confidence, and participate in a way that supports their individual needs. Our goal is to create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment where every player has the opportunity to grow.
Supportive Player Development
Our program is supported by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who works alongside coaches to help adjust and accommodate each child’s individual needs. Using applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies, this support helps ensure that players can participate, develop skills, build confidence, and enjoy the game in a structured and supportive environment.
Enrollment and Placement
Player enrollment for our UPL team includes an initial conversation with parents or guardians to better understand each player’s experience, strengths, and support needs. This process helps us:
-
Ensure proper team placement
-
Create balanced and supportive teams
-
Set players up for success within a team environment

Our Commitment to Inclusion
We recognize that many neurodivergent children—including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other developmental or behavioral differences—often face barriers when participating in organized sports. These challenges may include limited support, lack of understanding, or environments that are not designed to meet their individual needs.
In response, Discovery FC is expanding its programming to intentionally increase access to soccer for neurodivergent community members, while continuing to serve the broader youth soccer population.
